Kiss beneath the mistletoe

An IsshinMasaki christmas drabble

The living room was drenched in warm candle light. The atmosphere was enhanced by the snowfall outside the window. In a corner, a small christmas tree stood, carefully decorated. The electric candles fastened to it added to the christmas feeling.
Isshin felt cozier than he had ever before. Actually quite romantic, too. He was proud, because the ambiente in the living room was created by both him and Masaki. Right now, they were resting on the sofa, having eaten a wonderful dinner and exchanged their presents. It was December the 24th – the frist Christmas he spent with Masaki.
The Quincy girl’s present to him was a cute mode of a penguin, intended for his small clinic. Isshin was quite happy about it; the figurine would help bring a more comfortable air to the room. His gift to Masaki had been beatiful beige winter coat she had admired for long but hadn’t been able to afford. He smiled as he remembered her delighted squeal as she unpacked it.
Now, was lying, resting her head on his lap. The former captain himself just sat, content with looking out the window, watching the lazy fall of the snowflakes.
Suddenly, Masaki sat up.
„C’mere.“
And she pulled him towards her – into a kiss.
At first, Isshin was surprised, but being a former Captain of the 13 Court Guard Squads, he quickly overcame it and kissed back. He would never grow tired of kissing Masaki. Her soft lips… the smell of strawberries… Kisses were still something special to both of them, since love was something so utterly new to them. That was probably why they didn’t kiss as often as other couples so deeply in love with each other.
When he saw the twinkle in her eyes, he frowned and broke the kiss. Then he looked up.
And laughed.
Right above them, a mistletoe hung. Right, they had hung up that decoration too. Isshin had forgotten. Masaki, however, hadn’t.
